Many One Plus 7 Pro users have reported that their devices have been receiving multiple spam notifications. One Plus later confirmed that the notification was part of an internal test though it is not stated how many devices were effected.
One plus stated that the message was related to internal tests of the company’s upcoming android Q update. The messages were sent using the Google Firebase Cloud Messaging Protocol and one plus reassured users that their personal data was not compromised. The company has confirmed that they are installing measures to ensure that the issue doesn’t happen again.
Multiple users posted screenshots of the messages on their smartphones, one message consisted of Latin characters and the other was made up of Chinese characters. When users tapped the message it repeatedly tried to open a browser which couldn’t be found.
